Cumbria's ‘Barbie girl’ is to star in a television show to mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic doll.

Glamour model Deryn Green, 25, of Silloth, has been told she is “perfect” for a role in a BBC3 programme, My Life As Barbie.

“I was told I stood out because I have the face and the eyes they were looking for. They said I was perfect,” said Deryn.

The call came after Deryn spotted an advertisement on talent network Star Now from programme-makers hunting for a Barbie look-alike to celebrate 50 years since the launch of the doll.

“I sent my pictures in and thought nothing more about it,” she told the News & Star.

According to Deryn the programme, which is still in the planning stages, will feature her heavily.
“They have said they would like to come up to Silloth to do some test filming and see what my day-to-day life is like as Barbie.”

Deryn, who sang with girl band Triple-X and featured on adult entertainment channel Babe Station, said she is looking forward to this next challenge.

She added: “People have been coming up to my mum and patting her on the back and saying “well done for supporting her, tell your Deryn to hang in there”. People have been lovely.
“Hopefully I will be fit enough to do the BBC3 programme – I’m going to therapy now, and that’s what I’m working towards.”
